The Project

Lezen Oké! had been commissioned by the municipality of Ridderkerk to develop a magazine tailored for parents with young children who seek simplified reading materials. Embracing this assignment, Lezen Oké created Leespret magazine.

This magazine features a variety of activities suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings, stimulating parents to engage in with their children. Among these activities are:

• Picture scenes for observation and discussion, accompanied by suggestions
• Poems by Marianne Busser and Ron Schröder
• Outdoor games
• Storytime bingo
• Recommendations for children's books
• Recipes

LeesPret aims to foster interactive learning experiences and cultivate a love for reading and exploration among families in Ridderkerk.

The Process

When starting te design process we started by making a "plank". This file would contain an overview of what pages will contain what contents, making sure everything is in a logical order. This was followed by sketching, brainstorming and collecting materials if needed.

After discussing the ideas we'd get started in InDesign to create the designs. These versions were discussed again and improved upon the feed back from the other designer. When creating the designs, changes were also made based on which pages were paired togeter. They have to compliment each other nicely.

The Design

The final design is a colourful and intriguing magazine for children. The bright colours and the fun shapes catch their attention while the activities keep them interested. The magazine has been a big success ever since the first issue.
